Re: Random Thoughts
New Year's Eve I watched the South Park episode where the boys try to stop Steven Spielberg and George Lucas from remaking films like Saving Private Ryan (guns are replaced with walkie-talkies) . How very prescient. Look what they've done with High Noon!

Re: Random Thoughts
Apparently, there are a number of remakes coming down the pipeline. Off the top of my head, I'm reminded of a preview for the new Clash of the Titans. When I first saw the trailer my first thought was "Well...at least the kraken looks cool..."

Has anyone else noticed this?
I've been seeing this googlebot here a lot lately. Anyone know what it is or what it's up to?

Grin,
It's their "Search" spider, so it can tag posts into their engine if that makes sense to you.

Yes, someone beautiful, wise and elsewhere pointed me at this Wikipedia article. So know I know more than I ever wanted to about what the slimy thing does.

Re: Random Thoughts
Has this ever happened to you?
Today whilst I was oot ana boot, I heard a car alarm going off in the parking lot. I don't know why anyone bothers with those things anymore. No one even turn their heads when one goes off. Anyway, it was one of those that just uses the car's horn, "BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! ..." Somewhere in the back of my head began, "I don't feel a thing, and I stopped remembering. The days are just like moments turned to hours ..."

Taking the Trolley Down Market Street 1906
The email that this came with claimed that this is the first known 35mm film and that it was taken four days before the great earthquake. I wasn't able to verify that but it is a fascinating film nevertheless. I keep expecting to see Laural and Hardy go by.
Also, this could be improved by rifling the barrel. I fear such a weapon would increase the likelihood of war.

The Best Game Ever
If you haven't heard of Improv Everywhere, they are a group of people that pull amazing stunts in public. They're always entertaining and never mean to anyone. This is one of their best.

How's everyone doing?
I'm doing pretty good, just working, and kickin' back while trying to start my own business!
If anyone is curious, the site is not done as of yet, but end of the month I hope it is!
Going to be a hard market, but I'm ready for it. =D

Re: Random Thoughts
Grin,
The site isn't done yet, and it should be done by end of the month. It all depends if my code monkey can finish in time, but I do have a quick gallery. Thanks, I'm glad your still around too, Grin!
I'm doing photography and I'm in for the long haul! Currently saving for studio equipment, and a better body right now. =D
Here is a few shots, and I have gotten a lot more technical then, which you can see "Show your Desktop" thread.

Re: Random Thoughts
Wow! Italian cowboys. Are those the mountains of Tuscany in the background?
Seriously, those are good pictures. I don't even want to know what kind of camera you have. It would just make me jealous.

Re: Random Thoughts
Grin,
Hahaha. Thanks. It's just the Organ Mountains here in Las Cruces, and they chose the location, FYI. I used to flash guns, triggered wireless using a entry level dSLR. Currently looking getting L Lens, two of them, and a 7D. I used a Rebel XS for this. As someone has said, "Lighting will make or break your photo." This is very true. =)
Thanks again!

Other than Alice Cooper, whom I just saw Saturday (he still puts on a good show), nobody good ever comes within 500 miles of my town.

Re: Random Thoughts
I would like to share an experience with you, about drinking and driving. A couple of nights ago, I was out for a few drinks and eats with some friends at the steakhouse and I had a couple of cocktails and some rather nice red wine. Knowing full well I may have been slightly over the limit, I did something I've never done before: I took a bus home. Sure enough, on the way home, I passed a police road block, but as it was a bus, they waved it past. I arrived home safely without incident, which was a real surprise, as I have never driven a bus before and am not sure where I got it.

Re: Random Thoughts
Got your addy. Will be in touch.
I'll be doing much better in about a week. Been stressing here. Landlord quit paying the mortgage so I got evicted. Had a terrible time finding a new place. After three months of looking, ended up taking the first place available which turned out to be not too bad - just small. Much of my stuff won't fit the new place. They change the locks at the old place on Monday and I still have a ton of stuff there. Held a Moving Sale* today. Practically giving the stuff away. Made $120+ without making much of a dent in the pile. One more day. What's going to happen?
*Not a dry eye in the house.
*I was there all day and it didn't go anywhere.

Re: Random Thoughts
I just got back from a spending a few weeks Up North. My friend who lives in St. Ignace just got the coolest gadget I have seen in a long time. It is an (Link:---->) AR Drone 2.0 which is a remotely controlled "quadrocopter" that uses whatever touch screen device you have (Droid, iPhone, iPad, etc) as it's controller while streaming high quality video to it which can easily be recorded.
Unlike a regular r/c helicopter, the thing has a micro-controller which flies it and you just tell it where you want it to go so it is very easy to fly.
After a few practice flights around the house, we took it down to the Bridge Park for a work out. It was a bit too windy for it which made it hard to control. Here is a link to one of the shorter videos we took there. I'm not in it much so hopefully you won't have to be cleaning puke off of your keyboards. A little explanation is in order. There are two calibrations you do when you fly it. One just before take off that lets it know where flat and level is. Then you hit the "Take Off" button and it jumps about three feet (one meter) into the air and hovers. Then you do the second calibration where it turns rapidly around once. This is easy to spot in the video.
After that he flies it around. Watch the trees to see how windy it is. Looking South at the bridge the wind is coming from the picture's right and the drone leans heavily that way trying to maintain it's position. There is no sound because the machine itself makes too much noise. The thing isn't very stealthy.
