    Translation Question! Empty Translation Question!

Post  Alistair Sat May 02, 2009 12:15 am

    Heya guys,

Do you know if Levine is going to translate all the book or not? I'm sure it helps that it's winning translation awards, and plus, Scholastic, Inc. is the publisher, and I know they don't like leaving things "Half Assed," so to speak.

If not, I'll email Levine myself and see what they say.

I haven't heard anything one way or the other. I sure hope that Scholastic does publish all of them, but I guess it depends on how much $$$ the books bring in. Perhaps you should send an e-mail, Ali. If you do, let us know what they say.

Yeah, ever since I found out there were books I was trying to get any information. I didn't find any confirmations.

Just dropping by to see how you guys are. I'm strangled in this last quarter of school.

    I heard back from 'em....

    This what they said,

    Dear Alistair,

Thanks for the enthusiastic e-mail! The second book in the series just came out on May 1: MORIBITO II: GUARDIAN OF THE DARKNESS, and in my opinion it's even better and tighter than the first book, so I hope you enjoy it. I'm afraid our ability to translate books 3-10 is dependent on the success of these two (and I've seen synopses of Books 3 and 4 and they both look awesome), so do please keep talking them up to your fans in the anime or sci-fi community. If you have any ideas about specific ways we as the publisher might help you do that, I'd love to hear them.

    All best wishes,

    Senior Editor
    Editor of the Moribito series

At least it didn't sound like a candid response. =P So, there we have it, and what we can do to make sure it all comes through. =D

Cool! It sounds like he/she's as geeked about it as we are (of course it's their job to be). That's about what I figured. If these don't sell, fat chance the rest will be published - no matter how good they are. The bad news is that I haven't seen a bookstore that stocks them.

    Grin,

Yeah, I was thinking that too, and such. Granted, there is still some hope, but I'm kinda dwindling too for fact that one thing.... The Anime didn't do to well here in America. I see a lot of "Balsa" images on fanboards like Ryu's, but.... I doubt they wanna read, for a lot of people rather see visual things.

Still, there is hope. I'll most likey try to spread word myself, for I really would like to see them published, and translated.

More publicity would be coupled with the fact that it will be back on air again. Curious people might get the second book. So I'd say chances of further publication is not bad at all.

That's true. Although, if adult swim pushes the show to a cruddy time slot (again), the potential viewership flies out the window. Keep your fingers crossed guys...

    Sassy,

Yeah, I do agree with that, but we can always push it with friends, and others that we know that would like it. Plus, it helps that's easy reading.
